Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. It's a holiday where people get to show their creativity and where children are everywhere!
My little ones LOVE how we transform the house with spooky things.
Halloween morning Maddy had Nutcracker rehearsal but afterwards we carved pumpkins.
This year Christian decided rather then Trick-or-treathing he wanted to have his own booth at the Church's Harvest Carnival. My Dad always has one, so rather then signing up for 1 he got 2. Christian designed his game and found his bible verse.
The other chicklings did however dress up. Maddy and Kenna selected designs from a friend of mine who made the most fantastic tutu costumes.
Ethan wanted to be Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story. He's been flying around the house for weeks in it!
So after we got dressed up and did hair and makeup we headed to the Church's Harvest to play games. Afterwards we trick-or-treated in our neighborhood ending up at Craig and Laurie's for a fire, tortilla soup and margaritas.
As usual with 4 kids getting candy we have a ridiculous amount of candy at home. Slowly Ryan and I will both take some to work so the kids won't notice and the dentist will thank us.
Tons of pictures will come once the candy wears off.
Maddy went to a Halloween party for her friend Brock last weekend. She's dressing up like a playfully adorable witch.
A friend made the costume look how cute it is!
Wow, look at those baby blues! (also, see the lime green spider hanging in the back of the picture? Ethan made it out of a egg carton and pipe cleaners!)
I thank GOD to have the freedom to raise my children in such a wonderful country. We should recognize our independence more than one day a year.
We spent the day relaxing and then headed over to our friends Josh and Aurora for some yummy food, margaritas and fireworks.
My favorite part of the day was watching Ethans reaction whenever one of the kids popped a party popper.
It's only April and tonight the white bearded fat man in the red suit was mentioned by the 4 year old in the house.
Seriously?
This is such a busy 3 day weekend for us! Friday was bunco night at Michelle's house. I of course didn't win a single thing but had a really good time with the girls. Saturday...Valentines Day, we spent the day in 2 different cities. Ryan went to the desert and spent the day with his father, my father and my brother at a car show. Eric had his "thing" in the show and Ryan had his old truck. It was a testosterone filled day followed by the best mexican food that the desert has to offer and beer for the boys. Meanwhile us girls (mom, roxanne and I) spent the day in the OC at the scrapbook expo. We all purchased tons of goods and took a few classes, ending the day with a comical dinner at CPK.
This morning we went to church, followed by a baby shower for my girlfriend Cheryl, who happens to be the most beautiful pregnant woman I know and are now headed to a BBQ at Erics house where we're meeting up with our cousin, Shane, whom we haven't hung out with for years!
Tomorrow Ryan and I will start the morning out at the gym and then spend the day with the chicklings. We'll celebrate a belated Valentines Day and have our traditional candle lite dinner and heart cake. Christians favorite part of the meal is his cider in a fancy wine glass.
This year had some, um moments.....both good and bad. We've experienced life which of course came with many cherished moments, as well as some forgettable moments and some moments we wish we could forget.
But all in all I must say every path and experience that God gives us, we take it in stride and are THANKFUL because we're...together...the six of us.
Whew.....the holidays always seem like a whirlwind....Family, Friends, Food, Church, Laughing, Excitement.....
Our Christmas and long weekend were eventful and exhausting. We celebrated till the wee hours and then did it all again the next day and the next, all the way through Sunday night.
Below are some pictures to highlight our events.
And in a family like ours there is bound to be some, shall we say ODD gifts???
Oh, and the truth came out....Sorry Eric and Denice, but I have it in writing now....
Just in-case the writing is too small and you think your reading it incorrectly...Your not, it does say...
