The kids and I surprised Ryan with a Fathers Day gift that I'm sure he'll cherish for many years to come. I can't resist sharing so heres a little sneak peak of our photo session with Michelle.
I sneaked Ryan's truck out and took it on a back road in town.
More to follow. I think she said she got 55 shots. All I know is I went through a disk with her and absolutely LOVED every shot!!!
We are doing our part to be eco-friendly and cost effective in the harsh economy.
For the past 2 months we have been building a garden in our pack yard. It's been a large project and very time consuming, because we decided if we were going to do it, we would do it right.
So we started with mapping out a 8 feet by 16 feet space in the yard, removed the grass and layed down a week barrier. Next Ryan, Christian and Grant built a 8 x 16 foot box out of redwood. Then we had a company deliver 16 yards of fertilizer to fill in the box. After several days of hauling the dirt from the drive way to the back yard Ryan layed a drip sprinkler system in the box and then put up and fence.
Next we planned out what to plant. Each of us picked our desired veggies and fruits and then headed to Lowes, where we purchased both seeds and plants in biodegradable pots.
Then the fun began! The planting.
We have: Strawberries, corn, zucchini, yellow squash, cucumbers, radishs, chives, 3 kinds of tomatos, hot peppers, cilantro, green beans and broccoli.
Now, aside from being eco-friendly. The kids have learned the difference from a store bought veggie and a home grown veggie. The size
and more importantly the TASTE!
A veggie thats fresh from the garden is so much more flavorful! Saturday night we had steak, salad and baked potatos with sour cream and fresh chives from the garden.
Maddy and Christian are both playing soccer again this year for Upward. Christians on the Warriors and is best in defense and Maddy is on the Blazes and is best playing forward. She's the one who puts her game face on and gets down and dirty. I've slacked in the picture taking because I rarely make it to the field, I'm normally at the ballet studio with Makenna. But this last Saturday I did manage to snap a few.
and as if Ryan's schedule isn't busy enough he's refereeing again this year, 2-3 games a weekend. It really is a family affair down at the field. With my family of 6, Then Eric's kids are both involved with Grant playing and Vanessa coaching, so his family of 4 is always there, My dad is also a referee and my mom joins me with bouncing back and forth between the studio and field with the babies. My cousin Shane's daughter is playing so his family of 4 is always there and then my father in law Enoch has faithfully come to watch the kids each and every Saturday, reaping the benefits of being a proud grandparent. In the pictures below, the little FLAT guy in a few of the pictures is FLAT STANLEY. He is our house guest, he arrived last Saturday from Taylor in Washington. He's suppose to enjoy a vist with our crazy house and then go home with tales to tell.
Its 8:48pm and the doorbell just rang. Ryan went to answer it and found a paper with a bag attached lying on the doorstep.... Apparently, we've been "boo'd"... It says a spook delivered it! It was to addressed to Christan and says he needs to copy it twice and spook someone else. I read the whole thing to the kids and Maddy got big eyes every-time I said, spook, ghost or goblin. The paper bag attached is full of candy. The good stuff, whoppers, Hersey's and Reese's! Yum! Now I need to figure out who did it and repay them with a chain letter of some other annoying kind.....Because I hate chain anything!
p.s. I guess I should take that last comment back. Christian just came and placed a Reese's on the keyboard! Yep, chocolate always makes me happy.
Today, October 29, 2007 at 3:15pm my baby turned 10! OK, I know he's my oldest, but, still my baby! I cannot believe 10 years ago today Christian was born. He's the tiny little baby who forever changed my life!
Over the weekend he had a Scary movie night to celebrate the event. There were 14 kids from 5:00pm until 10:00pm (not such a good idea, I was done at nine, Kicking myself that I wrote 10:30pm on the invitations!). They watched 2 movies, played twister, Disney scene it and hung out. Here are some pictures:
The scary decor, monster blood cake, Christian and Kayle waiting for the party, Aunt Stacey's coveted gift from Fedex, Balloon fight and gifts....
He had a great time, is excited to be "Double Digits"... Tonight we're doing cake and gifts for a family get together. He's $60.00 away from having enough to buy a WII, so he's anxious for tonight's gift's!
