Saying Maddy is my "mini me" is such a understatement.
Last night I was reminded just how much of a "mini me" she really is.
She wanted to get in on the betting action from a few weeks ago so during dinner she bet her father to see who could guess how many pairs of shoes she has.
They teased back and fourth and finally he decided to guess 15 pairs. Maddy (who had not counted them) guess 21 pairs.
After dinner she and I ran upstairs and I watched while she counted and counted and counted, emptying two overflowing drawers of shoes onto the floor.
The final verdict was 22. The child has 22 pairs of shoes. At that moment I realized not only to we look alike and have the same personality but we have the same LOVE of shoes!! CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maddy went to a Halloween party for her friend Brock last weekend. She's dressing up like a playfully adorable witch.
A friend made the costume look how cute it is!
Wow, look at those baby blues! (also, see the lime green spider hanging in the back of the picture? Ethan made it out of a egg carton and pipe cleaners!)
Little Miss Madyson had her first audition this weekend.......
It's for the Nutcracker! She was so excited!
That is until they called her to line up and then I say she was nervous!
But apparently there was no need to be nervous because 30 minutes later she came out with a call back slip!
At the call back she auditions for Fritz's friend and a Mini Bon Bon....
The whole process was a 4 hour waiting game. This is what the waiting room looked like.
Today Christian and Madyson headed back to school. Christian is entering the 7th grade and is really looking forward to the school year.
His friends gathered at the corner of our street this morning with their bikes and then off they went.
Madyson starts 3rd grade this year. She's beyond excited because she has the same teacher as last year, whom she adored! She's also excited to be on the big kid side of the playground where she'll get to see her cousin Grant. We walked to school together this morning and she chatted my ear of wondering about who was going to be in her class and who she would eat lunch with.Last Friday night, Maddy wanted to go to dinner and then cosmic bowling for her 8th birthday. Since her big brother, Christian, and cousin Grant are out of town, she decided she wanted to ask Uncle Eric, Aunt Roxanne and Nessa to go and bowl the three of them verses the three of us.
So Aunt Roxanne, said "we would party like 1999", which Maddy thought was funny. So we started our adventure at Bj's restaurant where we were up to our eyeballs in food followed by the worlds largest cookie topped with 6 scoops of vanilla ice cream!
Maddy's eyes about popped out of her head at the sight of her jumbo birthday dessert! Then she opened her gifts.
Then we were off to find, and when I say find, I mean LITERALLY find the bowling ally. You would think this would be an easy task, but it wasn't. The first one we went to was totally full and had an hour wait, so we piled back in the suburban in search of another one. We arrived at one a few miles away and Maddy was throughly pleased that they would be starting their CoSmIc bOwLiNg in an hour.
After we all had on our snazzy bowling shoes we listed our names in the computer and "Butthead" (Eric) was up first.
After 3 frames of totally sucking, we decided to ask for the little bumper rails (which we said we needed for Madyson) and that really improved our game. We all managed to shoot in the hundreds....
Once the lights were out and the fog was thick, Maddy and Nessa proceeded to dance on the lanes!
and Eric showed off his professional bowling stand.....Dad you would be SO proud.
As I was shutting down the computer just now, I said, ok, I need to go do my makeup and get ready.
Then the little white haired child peeped up, "Awe Mommy you look prettier when your not wearing any makeup".
Yep.....she's the favorite. Thank you Maddy!
On Friday I brought my huge bouquet of roses, tulips and gerber Daisy's that I had gotten from my boss Pat for Admin day. As I walked through the door Maddy jumped up and said, "Awe you got flowers, who are they from?". "Their from Pat", I replied. "How come?", asked Maddy. "Read the card and you'll see", I replied.
She read the little card out loud, "Thanks for all the hard work you do, Love Pat".
"What, you do work?" Maddy asked.
Laughing and shocked I responded, "YES! What did you think I do at work?
Shyly she said, "Well I just thought you typed on the computer and told people what to do on the phone!"
