Hum, it's strange I waited four days to unload my feelings. But, I don't feel any better after writing yesterdays post. I just don't understand how to get through to my girlfriend. I feel distressed, discouraged, disappointed, depressed, disheartened. So how do you help someone who doesn't realize they need help?
Driving to work this morning I was listening to the local Christian radio station, as usual, and the positive thought for the day was: Proverbs 3:5, "Trust in the Lord". Amazing how that works. I think everyone who knows and is affected by this situation should have been listening to that station this morning.
This morning I got into my car to go to work and found a hot pink sticky note that said;
"Hey, I wanted to say I love you. Please listen. It's telling you Thank-You for so much more then you can even imagin. Ryan"
Yes, the waterworks turned on as I started the car and through my CD player came a Brooks and Dunn song. Weird since I don't listen to country. This must be why he said, "Please listen". Anyways, I sat in the driveway with the car running listening to a song I had never heard before, crying. The name of the song is "Proud of the House We Bulit".
These are the Lyrics:
I dropped to my knees in that field on your daddy's farm. Asked you to marry me, all I had to give was my heart. While other kids went diving into swimming holes, You and me drove off into the great unknown. We were barely gettin' by, takin' care of each other. Then I became a daddy; you became a mother. Was an uphill battle nearly every day, Lookin' back I wouldn't have it any other way.
I'm pround of the house we built. It's stronger than sticks, stones and steel. It's not a big place sittin' up on some hill. A lot of things will come and go but love never will. Oh, I'm proud. I'm proud of the house we built.
Still workin' our way through the land of milk an dhoney. At the end of the day there's always more bills than money. I close my eyes at night and I still feel the same fire in my heart I felt out on that hill.
I'm proud of the house we built. It's stronger than sticks, stones and steel. It's not a big place sittin' up on some hill. A lot of things will come and go but love never will. Oh, I'm proud. I'm proud of the house we built.
Oh, look at us today. Oh, we've come such a long long way.
I'm proud of the house we built. It's stronger than sticks, stones and steel. It's not a big place sittin' up on some hill. A lot of things will come and go but love never will. Oh, I'm proud. I'm proud of the house we bulit.
Wow! What a romantic man I have!
Yesterday was a "girls" day. Maddy, Kenna Jean, my mom and I went to Hollywood to see Disney's Enchanted at the El Capitan Theater. The girls got dressed up in their matching Enchanted shirts, compliments of Nana and we headed to California Pizza Kitchen for their Macaroni at Maddy's request.
After lunch we settled down in the suburban for the two hour drive down to Hollywood. We only encountered a little bit of traffic along the way and arrived with 20 minutes to spare! We parked in the Kodak Theater parking lot and walked up to Hollywood Blvd, which was a zoo thanks to some Movie Awards Pre-Show event on the street! So we weaved through masses of people, camera's, even Elmo, Minnie Mouse and Sponge Bob.
Finally we made our way across the street. So much for the spare 20 minutes prior to show time! Whew, we made it to our seats literally as the lights were dimming.... The movie was good, it flipped around between animated and reality, which was kinda strange. About 45 minutes into it, Kenna whispered she needed to potty. So I took her and while doing her thing she says, "Ok, movies over, I wanna see Sponge Bob now." My reply, "No it's not over, there's more you have to wait!", her reply, "No, I'm done." (a little bribery works) I gave her a piece of gum and we went back to our seats happy campers!
After the show we went next door to an Enchanted extravaganza..... Every princess possible was there. The building was seperated into sections. A art section, dancing section, makeup section, dress boutique, jumpers and princess meet and greets.... Here is some shots of the proceeding 2 hours.
My favorite part of the day was when Makenna had her Princess dress on, she stood shooshing it back and forth, she must have felt so pretty! Thanks mom for a incrediable day with my girls!
We usually do our Kidism posts on Saturday mornings, but Ryan's got to work on his research paper today, so I'm gonna change it up a bit... With Ryan's absence at the computer this morning I feel it only appropriate to do a.......
-----------------------------------------------------------------------Ryanism--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Ryan is my best friend. He is so full of love, friendship, kindness, respect, stubbornness and most of all humor
* No matter where we are, as long as Ryan's there you can ensure there is laughter
* In the airport coming back from our honeymoon in Seattle, a girl approached us and asked Ryan, "Can I have your autograph Ben (afleck)?" I started laughing hysterically and yep he signed it.
* Once in Target while checking out Ryan asked the clerk, "So how far along are you?" Her reply was a head shake "no", Ryan's response "What you don't know how far along you are?" My thought,"OMG, world just swallow me up right now, how embarrassing!!!"
* Ryan is so fantastic with kids that one of our friends daughters use to call him "dad". Huh, kinda hard to explain in public.
* Ryan just breathing irritates his niece. He walks into a room and she looses a lot of air (by sighing) He tries his hardest to fill the roll of an overbearing annoying uncle.
* He is always surprising me with secret dates. He gets the sitter, makes the reservation and we go. I love it!
* Every year for Halloween we dress up, My personal favorite. My 6 foot 2 husband in his Raggedy Ann and Andy outfit, complete with a red yarn wig, rose cheeks and tights! So classic!
* Its not unusual for me to come home to dinner on the table. Ryan's a great cook. Never take out or frozen food, always something BBQ with a veggie and a carb, mostly wild rice. YUM!
* If a sport is on TV, then my husband can be found yelling and screaming at the TV. I always say, "babe, they can't hear you." Thats typically the point where he jumps up and down making SCORE movements with his arms! Weird.
* When Ryan calls into my office he says, "Is my girlfriend there?" 11 years....
* He loves to golf, work on cars, be with family, play with the kids
* People ask us if were Catholic or Morman because of having four kids, My response is always the same, "No, my husband is from Alabama!"
* He drinks his coffee like mud
* Ryan's nickname at work is "bam bam". Not sure if thats a compliment, think it goes along with always braking stuff?
* He almost missed the delivery of our youngest son, Ethan, because he was roaming the halls of the hospital in search of a candy bar. He came running in, just in time for the doctor to catch him.
* Recently, I told him I thought having the fourth kid had done him in....I told him he had a gray hair, which he denyed. A few days go by and I find him plastered to our mirrored closet doors in our bathroom "looking at his hair".
* He has a tribal band on his arm. He did it off a bet. Our friend, Holly told him he was a chicken. So he went down and did it. Needless to say, I never bet him about anything.
* I call him "love", now when Kenna wants his attention, she yells, "Loooooove"
* He loves to drink ethnic beer with ethnic food. So our garage fridge is full of all different types. It's just like going to a restaurant. If we're doing tacos, then its Modelo. If we're doing Chinese, then its Asahi, If its BBQ, then its MGD.
* If my brother is around and I say the word, "Eggroll", he turns red and starts laughing due to some public humiliation from Ryan. Its a long story, but included a garage sale, jack in the box, eggrolls, a Chinese lady and hysterical uncontrollable laughing and embarrassment. It's a classic "Ryanism" and will be remembered forever!
Tonight at dinner once again mommy was verbally slammed by the little blonde 6 year old at the table. Tonight's dinner conversation panned out as follows:
Daddy: "We should go to Disneyland before Christmas"
Mommy: "Huh, I don't want to"
Daddy: "Fine then I'll take my girlfriend"
Kenna: "No, Daddy no girlfriend, Mommy will be mad"
Daddy: "Thats okay"
Maddy: "No Daddy you got her in highschool and thats been along time, maybe you should breakup with her"
Mommy: Laughed in amazement (wow, I always get jilted by that little smarty pants, this must be what my parents felt like!)
There are 41 days left until Christmas and I am in such a good position on the gift purchasing situation! I have a bigillion gifts to buy and it looks like I've done very good and only have 9 left! Well 9, plus Santa items. But, wow! Only 9......so the day after Thanksgiving should wipe those out by lunch! Yea for me! Hopefully my brother doesn't insist with starting a Walmart at 5, I despise Walmart, especially at 5am.....
As far as the Santa gifts go, I'm stuck. Christian has asked for the impossible and Maddy wants a new kitchen. Yes, she already has a kitchen, but according to her "its old". So, don't know if Santa brings duplicate gifts? The Santa in my house isn't very thrilled with the idea.
The babies are the easy ones, Kenna will love anything we get her and Ethan will bypass whatever he gets for the box. This makes Ethan's gift easy, I say buy something that comes in a large brown cardboard box, give the contents to Kenna and let Ethan have a field day.
I spent the last 4 days with my girlfriends in Washington! It was relaxing and I had a really good time. It's so beautiful in Washington. I lucked out and it was good weather. We laughed, shopped, ate, watched movies, talked and cried. It was perfect. I love both these girls and miss them already! Here are some random pictures of my trip.
Michelle, Stacey and I at the Nordstrom's sale. My mission was to buy jeans and I actually had great success. Maybe not the size I would have liked, but, it's satisfaction to purchase a pair.
I took this picture of the Space Needle downtown out of the sunroof of a car. I love the city when its all lit up!
Stacey lives on a island that is breathtaking! Everything is covered in bright green moss and all the trees are different shades of amber, orange and yellow. The streets are sprinkled with leaves. The picture below is in her backyard. Its so relaxing and I even saw deer everyday eating apples
Stacey's other half is also named Ryan, ever since we were little girls we always had the same things so its not suprising that we would both end up with a Ryan!! The dog in the above photo is her "daughter". She is the spoiled one on the house.
Ugh, my stomach is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tied up in KNOTS that I'm at a complete loss for words, well maybe not a loss, but my head is spinning and it would all sound like gibberish, or like Snoopy. So....you get nothing. sorry.
OK, its a nationally known fact that the mortgage industry, well...um...sucks. Housing prices are too high, current home values are declining and rates haven't moved in months. So, what does a mortgage broker do now-days at work? Thats a good question. Most probably cry. But at my office we laugh. We play lots of practical jokes on each other. A few weeks ago it was raining business cards over my desk, thanks to my boss playing 52 card pickup over my wall. So in retaliation I took curling ribbon and created a maze around his office like a spider web...classic. It was hilarious watching him weave his way to his desk!
Below is a picture of how I found one of my loan officers at lunch time.
Yep, he's sleeping. Does anyone need a loan??? We apparently have the time?
In earlier posts from last week I mentioned that Christian was saving all his money to buy a Nintendo Wii. Well as of last Wednesday after opening his last gift from my sister, Denice, he had enough money. Yep, $249.00!!!! What a good saver! It was his allowance money from several weeks and all his birthday money combined. We were very proud of him for being so frugal and saving. So, needless to say on Thursday we started calling around to locate a Wii and literally every store was sold out. He was so bummed, that is until Saturday when a clerk at Walmart told me they were expecting a lot for Sundays ad, but the shipment didn't come in until after the store closes so to call on Sunday morning and see if they got them in. Well thankfully time changed and we gained an hour, so when we called Walmart bright and early at 7am, to my body it was really 8! Anyways, the girl who answered the electronics department phone said they had received 28 in on Saturday night and they still had 2 in stock! Hallelujah!!! So Christian and I threw on some shoes and drove up there. He counted out his money, although he was short the $24.00 for tax (which his Nana said he could work off at her house by cleaning all the baseboards with soap and water).
Yes, victory and a happy kid by 7:15am
