This morning while I was getting ready for work I somehow managed to only have two of the four children as my audience. Makenna was watching cartoons in my bed and Christian was sitting on the bathroom counter talking away. When I was finished with my hair I booted Christian from the room so that I could change from the Black shirt and black sweats I was wearing into my skirt and shirt for work.
Once I slipped the chocolate brown and teal swirl shirt on Makenna looked at me crinkled up her nose and said, "Are you gonna wear that shirt with that skirt?"
I laughed and said, "No silly this is my jammy shirt, I'm gonna wear that shirt". (which was a plain teal shirt)
Makenna looked disgusted with her nose still all crinkled up and said, "Good because black and brown so don't match".
So I laughed at her and finished getting dressed. After I was done I walked into the closet grabbed some chocolate brown Steve Maddens for me feet and as I was exiting the closet I was greeted with a huge smile from Makenna and she said, "Mommy you look so pretty NOW."
**** So what did I look like prior to her expert fashion advice? Apparently like crap.
Since last week my poor girls have been so sick! It's just heartbreaking to watch. We've missed school. We've missed work and today is the first day that things seem to be normal.
I won't even get into Maddy's saga. But Makenna Jean has seen the inside of doctors offices, urgent care and the ER more in the last 5 days then she has her own house!
It all started a week ago Friday when we suspected she had a bladder infection and took her to the doctor. Yep, our assumption was correct and the doctor prescribed a antibiotic and lots of cranberry juice!
Then Tuesday her fever spiked to 104.8 and I rushed her to urgent care. After collecting some urine they came to the conclusion that the original mincer wasn't fighting the infection and prescribed a new one.
So Tuesday night and all of Wednesday she alternated between having high fevers and vomiting.
Yesterday I called the doctor back and he said take her straight to the Children's Hospital. They faxed me all of her lab work and phone ahead for us. After arrival to the ER they hooked her up to an IV and took 5 viles of blood, informing us that it may be a kidney infection. But much to our relief after 6 hours of all the tests came back negative and we were sent home with a new and improved antibiotic.
Todays report: She's back to sassy, spunky Makenna! Thank-you to the cute doctor at Children's hospital!
My best friend Holly had full blown knee surgery last week. She's finally hobbling around on her crutches, so she came by on Sunday.
Makenna was a little bit freaked out to see that Aunt Holly was hurt.
She questioned the bandages and crutches for a little while and then disappeared upstairs.
Soon she returned with a handful of strawberry short cake band-aides.
She unwrapped each one diligently and
place them on top of Holly's ace bandage and then announced "OK, all better now".
I'm currently making dinner listening to Miss Makenna Jean sing.
She's using her cuppy cup as a microphone singing, "I wish my girlfriend is as hot like like you, Oh, I wish my girlfriend is hot like you".
So, I'm thinking I listen to that album a little too frequently?
MAKENNA
Last night while on the to dinner this is the conversation.
"Mommy, you need to change." Says little Miss Makenna Jean.
"Why? I like this" I reply defensively.
With a crinkled up nose Makenna says, "But, But did you look at yourself?".
Birthdays in our house never seem to end...
Makenna Jean's birthday was the 19th of February and she is still getting gifts!
Yesterday while I was at work, Aunt Vicki came over with a gift. This was the scene in my cult-a-sac as I drove up:
Kids everywhere... Madyson on her scooter, Ethan drawing on the sidewalk with chalk, Christian and his friends hanging out in the drive way listening to their i-pods and then there is Makenna. She's sitting all by herself playing with something close to the front door.
I park. I open the door and Makenna comes running up to me,
"Mommy, I got a Barbie! My own Barbie!"
"You did, how pretty, where did you get her?"
"From Aunt Bicki!!! She's Hannah Montana, see her shoes, see her dress, she's mine, do you wanna see her boobs?"
I laugh, "I see her, she's so pretty!"
Last night Makenna bit Ethan.
Ryan grabs Makenna and says, "If you ever bite anyone again I will bite you. Do you understand?"
Makenna tilted her head and reply-ed, "I'll bite you back and it will hurt."
Wow.....from the mouth of the daring 3 year old...
Little Miss Makenna Jean is 3! Wow 3! We skirted right past any form of terrible two's and now we're entering the sassy three's! (Knock on wood, we've never had a terrible two.)
Makenna is very opinionated and decided two things about her birthday. One being that she wanted to go camping and two that she didn't want a birthday cake, instead she wanted Papa's famous cookies!
And of course, what Makenna wants, Makenna gets especially when it comes to her Papa. She went over to his house and assisted in the cookie baking. Look how sweet she looks in her little apron. Next she got to decorate her giant cookie with Nana and then nibbled around it.
We did go ahead and do a little family dinner. Made some taco's and margaritas. (Makenna's favorite, especially the chip dipping for those of you who know her) There's enough kids in our family to make any dinner seem like a party, there was kids everywhere....
Last night after dinner Christian and Ethan were upstairs in the shower, Maddy was doing handstands in the front living room, I was sitting in front of the fire in the family room, Ryan was sprawled out on the couch, then enters Miss Makenna Jean.......She came running into the room with a book under her arm and comes to a halt in front of Ryan saying;
"Daddy can you read me a Bo" she stops mid-sentence and sniffs the air. She sniffs again saying, "Ewe Daddy your feet stink!" with a little wrinkled nose, as she sniffs more and whispers, "stinks like toe jam!"
Ryan and I both bust out laughing, it's always the two year old with the mouthful.
Miss Makenna Jean is on a new kick. Everyday she feels that she needs to wear and Dress and tights. Oh, and of course a bow in her "hair". OK I know she doesn't have any, but she doesn't know she doesn't have any! So everyday I slick her 3 or so strands of hair up into a itty bitty white bow. She prances around the house thinking she's it. A few days ago she insisted on wearing her fancy Easter dress, whatever, she looks cute and feels pretty so thats all thats important. Saturday morning we got up and got dressed for the older kids Basketball games. This is what Makenna chose to wear,
