A in-law kind of weekend

Whew! We need another weekend, to recover from the weekend.

Friday night we went to a BBQ at Ryan's Dad's house. The kids swam alittle and played with Grandpa.

After eating way too much BBQ dinner we sat on the deck outside and visited. I got to gossip and catch up with Ryan's Sister, Amanda and Sister-n-Law, Gillian, while the men did the dishes. (a rare event!)

Then Saturday morning Amanda came over and watched the chicklings, while Ryan and I went to a friends mom's funeral.

Saturday afternoon we picked up Gillian and headed down to Laguna for my Mother-n-Law's 65th birthday dinner.

This is her and her Husband, Jack. We ate at Las Brisas in Laugna Beach, it's so beautiful. The view is amazing and the food is pretty yummy too. After dinner we went out and had a couple of drinks with Brayton and Gil

and I'm pretty sure Gillian had one to many rasberry martini's followed up by strawberry margarita!

Not sure how I managed to score in the Sister-n-Law department! I really lucked out with Roxanne and Gillian, their both such fantastic women!

No reward necessary

A few weeks ago, I posted a "Missing" ad on behalf of Ethan. His beloved tattered "Baxter", had up and disappeared. We have had many discussions about Baxter and I even had to tell a little white lie to make Ethan feel better. I explained that Baxter was sick and had to go to the doctor, but that Baxter said for Ethan to sleep with his friend, Turtle. This pleased Ethan and he has slept with the Turtle ever since.

Anytime I suggest to the kids to go on a "Baxter Hunt", Ethan quickly replies that "Baxter Doctor".

Well the ad has been fulfilled and Baxter is home safe and sound. Well maybe not safe, since he's been dragged around by the ear since Friday, but Ethan sure is happy.

It's been a good week!

A three day weekend just wasn't enough! We had three whole days to enjoy with family and friends, so that's exactly what we did. Actually, our entire week was about hangin' out with the people we love! Here's a recap:

Monday night we had Bible study.

Tuesday night we went to dinner with Gillian, Charles and Christine.

Wednesday we went up to a bbq at Holly and Charlie's house.

Thursday Maddy left for the weekend, so Ryan and I watched a movie with Christian and hung out.

Friday we went to our friends Josh and Aurora's house for swimming and fireworks.

Saturday morning we went to Panera Bread with Eric and Roxanne for breakfast.

Saturday afternoon/evening Holly and Charlie came over and we played games and ate way to much mexican food.

Sunday Clint and Christina came over for a bbq and Makenna, Ethan and baby Dean played like crazy.

WHEW....

This week our schedule isn't quite as scattered.

Monday we have Bible Study, Tuesday nothing, Wednesday nothing, Thursday I have a work dinner, Friday night is girls Bunco night.

A beachy weekend

Friday after work we drove down to the beach. We walked the pier,

and then we had dinner at Joes where the kids had a crab feast! Ethan sampled everyone's meal and flirted with all the waitresses as they walked by.

After dinner we went back and walked on the beach. The older kids and Ryan played alittle in the surf, while the babies and I sat on the rocks and got alittle dirty.

Saturday our friends Aaron, Michelle and Lars came down and we spent the day on the beach...

Ryan and Aaron spent alot of time in the water, Aaron even attempted to surf on Christians board, getting up a couple of time. Michelle and I sat on the beach talking and playing with the little ones. Kenna and Ethan tried to gang up on Lars, although he wasn't havin' it and came right back at them! It's so cute to see toddlers interact! Once we felt we had enough of the sand, we headed back to the campground and played in the pool and then a game of clue. We ended our day at a little fish and chips place that had the best clam chowder!

"I'm a big boy now", dun dunt...

2 weeks ago today, Ethan traded in his pampers for Winnie the Pooh and Elmo big boy underwares!

At only 27 months this was a shocker, but he wants to be like his big brother and sisters. Oh and the potty candy located in all the medicine cabinets helps too!

Apparently we have learned a trick r two by parenting 4 little ones.

This is what we heard as we walked into a restraunt tonight. A loud drawn out OH MY GOD from a group of 4 women...

What? Have you never seen someone with more than one kid before? There may be 6 of us, however we are normal and yep, we have to eat too.

Who: my 8 year old Nephew Grant

What: 2 emergency rooms in one night

Where: a local park

When: last night

Why: While putting golf balls Christian's ball hit Grant full force in the forehead

The result? A HUMONGOUS welt about 2 inches wide and two inches sticking out, about the same size as a golf ball sticking off the poor child's forehead...

The first ER sent us to the children's hospital for "possible head trauma" and a "CT Scan".

The second ER asked if Christian hit him with the club or the ball? They poked and prodded, made him eat, observed him and then sent us home several hours...

Today the swelling is down and rather then looking like a deformed alien, he looks like a little boy with a bruised forehead and black eyes.

Conclusion: The boys learned a lesson in listening. Had they of listened to me they wouldn't have been putting the ball to each other. Apparently parents really do have reasons behind rules.

On a side note: I felt horribly responsable and will probably let Grant get away with murder for many years to come.

Shhh...I was snatched away for a secret weekend

At 3pm on Friday afternoon my husband walked into my office with a secret smirk on his face.

"Lets go"

"Huh, where? I'm working."

"Not anymore, come on, I've already cleared it with the boss man."

As I got up and followed him, I asked, "Ryan, what in the world are you talking about?"

Smiling, we proceeded out the double doors and and he opened the trunk of his car and revealed the luggage packed!

"Um, what is that?" I questioned.

"Shoosh and get in the car, its a secret."

I listened and off we went, while in the car he explained that he had convinced his Brother, Brayton and his wife, Gillian to come to our house and watch the chicklings. Really? Seriously? Could this be so? Speechless. I was in awe. How did I not know any of this?

We arrived at a Marriott and started our secret weekend away in Old Town Pasadena! (what a man I have, how romantic) for the next two days we ate at some great restraunts, one of which being our special place, shopped alot, jaccuzied and even got to see two movies! The movie thing is a rare occurance, normally one of us goes, while the other stays back with the two babies.

I think I'm still in shock. Two days away with just the two of us! Between work full time, school full time and 4 little chicklings full time.....time alone just doesn;t seem to fit in.

So, I really need to THANK my Brother and Sister in Law for watching and loving said little chicklings enough to come over and spend two days with them (We owe you guys) and I also need to THANK my Father in Law for comping our hotel stay. The hotel was beautiful and very central to downtown. We valeted the car and walked everywhere!

Where are the furry things?

We dogsat (again) for my parents. This time for 9 Looonnnnggg days.

Sasha and Tiffany like coming over, but I'm pretty sure they don't like being carried around constantly, being pushed in a stroller, being dressed up in doll clothes or being terrorized every time they sit down by the littlest boy.

Over the weekend I rounded the corner to go into the living room to look for them when I saw this.

It occured to me to lock all four of them up and leave them in there, but before I could Ethan was DONE.

I'm outta here!

He promptly exited the dog cage and tried to lock Makenna and the puppies in there.

Wow! How can they be so grown up?

Is it possible that my Neice and nephews are old enough for PrOm?!? Crap, I feel old....but not as old as my Brother and Sister, you guys are seriously old to have children going to prom. (It's fantastic to be the little sister, love you guys)

So two weeks ago my Nephew, Taylor and his buddy got dressed up in the "Zoot suites" and headed to prom. This kid has the best personality, you seriously have to know him to understand how he could pull such a thing off.

Apparently his date had a good personality to go along with this. She looked beautiful.

My oldest Nephew, Michael, decided to ditch Prom this year, but somehow my Sister managed to get a photo of the two boys together. Aren't they a handsome pair?

Then this past weekend my Neice, Vanessa also went to prom. Her Nana made cookies in honor of the big event.

I did her hair. I think she liked it? It was suppose to look like a photo she saw of Taylor Swift.

Maddy was loving this whole "Prom" thing, she absorbed the idea and got a fancy new dress, Aunt Roxanne did her hair and makeup and she painted her toes hot pink in honor of Nessa.
